when the dancing flower petals turned to powder snow
I embraced the love dancing up

the leaves that once quietly rustled on the trees
are still falling, marking the end of the season
the autumn breeze smells sweet
it’s searching for our shadows down this street where the sun sets

I hurt you when things got tough
just to protect myself
you put into words
the smile that would end those days

you did something for me
where, for the first time, I could think about a person deep in my heart
I believed our time together would be forever

those growing feelings cannot be stopped
I know I can’t see you anymore
“we’ll stay together”
that was just enough for me
I’d always thought we could live together, now and forever
I was still a kid
who didn’t notice the tears you shed…

the road we once traveled, walking side by side
I felt like we could go anywhere
you were always on my right
as my heart pounded through my chest

my mind was set:
the future in my eyes would be the same as yours
but in the deep red-colored urban jungle
you muttered, “sorry”

was mostly warmth
